A tenor-melody setting of a benediction from the Apocalypse (14:13-14), set to music previously by Schutz in the seventeenth century, Billings and Telemann in the eighteenth, and Brahms in the nineteenth. The text is used most typically in funerals and full-length performances of Brahms' deutsches Requiem. Look for a citation of the opening line of St. Anne in the tenor voice under the alto entry in the polyphonic setting.
