First verse was harmonized by my composition students in Knoxville as a class activity, for which I had written the melody. I added the remaining verses subsequently. The composition uses several forms of imitation. The basic melody (1st and 4th verses) imitates the form of the stereotypical, 17th century Anglican psalm tune.
